LiFePO4 Battery Pack for Golf Carts: A Better Investment
For many years, lead acid batteries were the go-to power source for golf carts. They are still the cheapest option for electric carts and other vehicles--but not in the long run.
As you probably know, cheap doesn’t equal quality. So when you choose a traditional battery because of its lower price tag, the disadvantages are par for the course. (Like shelling out more $ for a new battery when it turns into a toxic-waste disaster).
But if you choose lithium, you’ll save more in the long run. Why? Because a LiFePO4 battery pack will last about 3,500 cycles, compared to 400 for lead acid. It costs $0 and zero hours to maintain. In the end, lithium golf cart batteries are flawless--like a million-dollar swing.

Q1: Is LiFePO4 more dangerous than lead acid/AGM?
A1: No, it is safer than lead acid/AGM. In addition, the lithium battery has a built-in protection circuit. This prevents short circuits and has under-voltage/over-voltage protection. Lead/AGM does not, and the immersed lead acid contains sulfuric acid, which will overflow and harm you, the environment, and your equipment. Lithium batteries are sealed, there is no liquid, and no gas is emitted.
Q2: Is there a Battery Management System?
A2: Yes, MATRIX’s BMS is installed in every golf Cart.
Our state of the art battery management system protects the batteries from under voltage, over voltage, and will shut the battery down if a cell is out of balance.
Q3: Why are LiFePO4 batteries more expensive than alternatives?
A3: The upfront cost of our lithium deep cycle battery is higher than a lead acid equivalent. But, when you divide that cost by the life of the battery, our LiFePO4 battery is already cheaper than a lead acid battery.
When cost and time associated with changing the batteries is factored in, you really save a bundle when you decide to install a MATRIX battery bank. Able to run 3,500 cycles, most people will have these batteries for 10 to 15 years.
