Lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePO4 or LFP) offer lots of benefits compared to lead-acid batteries and other lithium batteries. Longer life span, no maintenance, extremely safe, lightweight, improved discharge and charge efficiency, just to name a few. LiFePO4 batteries are not the cheapest in the market, but due to a long life span and zero maintenance, it’s the best investment you can make over time.

Advantages of Lithium Lifepo4 Battery:
LITHIUM HAS A LONG LIFESPAN
Lithium iron phosphate batteries live up to 2000 cycles at 70 percent depth of discharge, without decreasing in performance. The average lifetime of lead-acid batteries is just two years.
NO ACTIVE MAINTENANCE
Lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePO4) don’t require active maintenance to extend their service life. Also, the batteries show no memory effects and due to low self-discharge (<3% per month), you can store them for a longer period of time. Lead-acid batteries need special maintenance. If not their life span will be decreased even more.
Lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePO4) offer high power density which causes lithium batteries to be relatively small and light. Compared to lead-acid batteries lithium provides great energy density and are at least half the mass. Go for lithium if you want to reduce concerns about battery weight and size!
Lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePO4) have 100% of their capacity available. Additionally, their fast charge and discharge rates cause them to be a great fit for all sorts of applications. Fast charging reduces any downtime and increases efficiency. High discharge pulse currents deliver bursts of power in a short amount of time.
Other Lead-Acid Battery Replacement
1.How do MATRIX LiFePO4 batteries perform in cold temperatures?
As with all batteries, cold temperatures will result in reduced performance. LiFePO4 batteries have significantly more capacity and voltage retention in the cold when compared to lead-acid batteries. Important tips to keep in mind: When charging lithium iron phosphate batteries below 0°C (32°F), the charge current must be reduced to 0.1C and below -10°C (14°F) it must be reduced to 0.05C. Failure to reduce the current below freezing temperatures can cause irreversible damage to your battery.
2. How do MATRIX LiFePO4 batteries perform in hot temperatures?
LiFePO4 batteries will provide their full capacity and performance until they reach the Battery Management (BMS) protection level. The BMS maximum temperature ranges from 60-80°C (140-176°F). LiFePO4 batteries produce less heat than other lithium chemistries, but if they reach an upper limit, our BMS will protect the battery by shutting it off.
3. Are there required certifications to ship lithium iron phosphate batteries?
Yes, the Department of Transportation requires UN38.3 certification. All batteries must be UN38.3 certified in order to be legally transported via land, sea or air.
